Okay. So I've been sidetracked.

Sorry these posts have been so long and few and far apart and logged with random stuff from months back. I've been really sidetracked with work and other stuff.

So mum has started chemo again. This time it is a much milder form of chemo with the hope of keeping her cancer stable for the long term. Her first round went without any great difficulties. No hair loss, no weight gain, and no huge side effects. After visiting her oncologist on friday, we head off for lunch at a Malaysian place Ash and I have been going to. Afterwards, we caught the tram back to her car. She hadn't been on a tram for quiet some time.

Cats of Penang

While walking through the streets at night, mum wanted to avoid dark alleys or anything that could be perceived as dangerous. I guess we travel quiet differently. We (regrettably) avoided some really interesting ladyboys but I was determined to try and get down this alley. 20 metres in and I noticed mum wasn't by my side. I looked back, and she was standing in the well lit main street. I looked back down the alley to catch a quick glimpse of this cat.

Penang Pt 1

After a whirlwind 24 hours in KL we head to the foody capital of Penang. We walked the streets and explored all the nooks and crannies of a city filled with British colonial era buildings. Mum was a trooper, covering approximately 10-15 kilometres on foot despite her feet puffing up like balloons.

Kid watching over the plane seats at us. I think he liked my camera.
These fishing boats reminded me of my time in Timor (hell, they remind me of anywhere in South East Asia). Container aren't too Timor though.

This dude dished up our amazing Laksa.

Hawker food. Pay by the colour of the skewer. I didnt realise you were meant to cook/heat up the sticks in the boiling water. The first skewer I grabbed were PiPi clams. They were raw and covered in blood. I thought it was a marinade.
